Back to Church - Baptism party and teddy bears' picnic

Print this Event

"Going to church isn't what it was 20 years ago, or even five years ago," says the Rev Sharon Jones, priest in charge at St Andrew's. "Church? It's not what you think."

"Many who no longer come to church have particularly negative memories of their past experiences and some need convincing that church really has changed."

On Sunday 26 September will be the baptism "party" and teddy bears' picnic for children - and their parents - who have been baptized at St Andrew's in recent years. Cake and drinks will be provided, but children are asked to "bring a bear."

Back-to-Church Sunday will be a chance for church regulars to show friends, neighbours, lapsed family members or work colleagues that going to church in 2010 is neither scary, nightmarish, threatening nor stressful.
