Taxi drivers across the borough of Rochdale are being offered health checks together with a free five day pass to all leisure centre facilities operated by Link4Life.
Link4Life, through its Workplace Health and Wellbeing Strategy programme, has identified that taxi drivers run a higher risk of health conditions, including heart disease and diabetes, due to the nature of their role and occupational environment.
To tackle this, Link4Life is launching a ‘Health MOT’ campaign on 25 June. The programme will initially run four sessions of health checks for private hire taxi drivers in Rochdale and includes checks on body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes risks. Each assessment will take around 15-20 minutes per person and is completely confidential. Drivers who attend a ‘health MOT’ will also receive a free five-day pass to access gym, swimming or workout classes at any Link4Life leisure centre facility.
Free ‘Health MOT’ sessions will take place on:
- Monday, June 25, from 10am-4pm, at Castlemere Centre, 60 Tweedale Street, Rochdale OL16 3UB.
- Tuesday, June 26, from 10am-4pm, at Deeplish Community Centre, Hare Street, Rochdale. OL11 1JT
- Wednesday, June 27, from 10am-2pm, at Apna Ghar Centre (KYP) Unique Mill Enterprise Centre, Rochdale OL16 2UP
- Monday, July 2, from 10am-2pm, at Rochdale Leisure Centre, Entwistle Road, Rochdale OL16 2HZ
