DETAILS:

Greater Manchester Association of Trades Union Councils (GMATUC) – Rochdale Metropolitan Trades Council present 'Peterloo 1819 - The Lessons for Workers in 2019' a commemoration concert and discussion.

As part of the bi-centenary commemorations and to help raise public awareness of what went on at the Peterloo Massacre, in addition to promoting the widest possible participation of the public in this year's 200th anniversary events, GMATUC & Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Trades Council will be holding a public event of song, refreshment, raffle and discussion at Woolworth’s Social Club, Casleton on Sunday 11th August from 1.00pm.

With songs and music from Matt Hill aka 'Quiet Loner' - resident songwriter at Manchester People's History Museum and author of 'The Battle for the Ballot'.

The event wants to recognise the historical involvement of Sam Bamford and Rochdale / Heywood & Middleton people at Peterloo in 1819, and in the years since, in both the fight for parliamentary and electoral reform, and in the recent annual commemorative walks to remember all those killed an injured, including from Heywood & Middleton, who were previously unknown to most of the public.

Entry fee: £7 / £5 concessions
