Event: Northern Baroque Orchestra Autumn Concert

DETAILS:

The Northern Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Paul Witkiewicz plays a lovely selection of Baroque music on a Sunday afternoon.

Led by Dianne Knowles, the orchestra is joined by three oboe soloists and a bassoonist to play Fasch's overture suite in D minor and Telemann's concerto for 3 oboes in G minor.

The ever popular Arrival of the Queen Of Sheba is the first of Handel's pieces followed by his Concerto Grosso Op.6 no.1 in G major.

A lovely piece by John Stanley in D minor op.2 no.2 is played before the orchestra perform Elgar's fantastic Serenade for Strings.

After the music, pie and peas are for sale for a small fee and a chance to chat and meet the players and audience in this wonderful grade 1 listed church.

Do speak to the stewards for a tour of the church to see the magnificent carved ceilings and stained glass windows the famous stain glass windows.
