What did the Romans laugh at?

Print this Event

This workshop lets you experience how comic actors and directors set about making their audiences laugh. A short talk will introduce Roman comedy: its content and authors and their use of stereotypes, stage-space and physical theatre. Then, using a section of a Roman comedy as a script, you will work together to bring out its side-splitting potential – from how you say the lines to what you wear and where you stand while you say them.

Booking required - please ring Touchstones on 01706 924492. For older children aged 10-16. Unaccompanied children must bring a completed parental consent form issued on booking.

Memory Wellbeing Cafe

Print this Event

Falls Prevention Team & Armchair Dancing

The Memory Wellbeing Cafes provide an opportunity for people with dementia and their carers to come together in a safe and welcoming environment where they can speak with each other, volunteers and professionals for support.

The cafes, which are based in the communities where they are most needed, have worked very well in other areas of the North West. They can help prevent feelings of loneliness and isolation by giving visitors the opportunity to speak to other people in similar situations as themselves.

Each cafe will have professionals from different organisations providing relevant information on a series of topics on a one-to-one or group basis. As well as this, activities, such as singing and dancing, will also be organised.

This session will continue on the third Friday of every month.
