Nomical Networks moves to bigger premises

Date published: 24 February 2016

Nomical Networks, which provides IT services to businesses, has just moved to a 6,300 sq. ft. building on Moss Bridge Road following a number of business successes. These include the introduction of a pioneering new automated access system which has been adopted by organisations including Pure Gym, Britain’s biggest gym chain.

The company has grown from a two man start-up to a 40 strong team in just seven years, moving from an incubator unit in the Rochdale Enterprise Centre to Lock 50 and now to its latest home in Moss Bridge Road.

The business has already taken on ten new members of staff from the borough since its move a month ago, including network engineers, solution architects, project managers and four apprentices and plan to employ four or five IT apprentices every year on a 12 month programme designed to build young people’s technical skills, with mentoring, assessment and qualifications.

Joint owner Jon Dunning, said: “When I look at our business today, it’s hard to believe that we started out from an incubator unit in Rochdale’s Enterprise Centre just a few years ago. I can’t praise the council or RDA highly enough. The help and guidance we have received throughout the process of moving has been outstanding.”

Councillor Richard Farnell, Leader of Rochdale Borough Council, said: “This business, which started as two people working together and turned into a thriving SME, is typical of the fantastic entrepreneurial spirit we have here in Rochdale borough. IT is clearly a growing market, which is well supported by the recent expansion of superfast broadband across the borough. I’m particularly excited about the apprentices Nomical is so keen to offer. Nomical clearly sees our talented young people playing a large part in the future of their business.”
