The Gallows to be refurbished and re-opened

Date published: 25 May 2016

The Gallows pub on the corner of Wildhouse Lane will re-open for business on 28 June after a refurbishment including complete redecoration inside and out with new flooring, lighting, curtains and blinds, furniture, fixtures and fittings.

The pub will retain its open plan layout with three distinct areas for drinking, casual dining and more formal dining.

Externally, new signage and lighting is to be installed and additional car park spaces added.

The ladies and gents facilities will be updated and redecorated and new equipment fitted in the kitchen.

Publican, Jane Gregson, is particularly excited about the plans for The Gallows. She worked at the pub for 14 years before moving on to run other venues and returned to the site in January as the new publican. She said: “It feels like coming home. I’ve lived in the area all my life and have always had a soft spot for The Gallows. I’m very excited.

“The Gallows will still be a family friendly, community pub and I want everyone to feel welcome whether they pop in for a drink, coffee or family meal.

"We will have daily food and drink offers and theme nights such as curry nights, and will have regular live music entertainment at the weekends.

"I’m looking forward to showing off the new look Gallows when we re-launch on 28 June.”

Aimee Moss, new business development manager for national pub operator, Punch, said: “The Gallows is a well established community pub offering a homely welcome for all the family.

"Jane and her team have some great plans for developing the pub as a community hub, with a strong food and drink and a regular calendar of events to bring the community together.

"I’m looking forward to continually supporting the team as they build the business going forward.”

Councillor Andy Kelly said: "It's great to see investment of this level in Milnrow. The potential to generate trade and jobs can only be a good thing for the economy locally. There are some great pubs in this ward and thankfully we haven't had any closures for a number of years now.”

He added: “I would encourage people to patronise their locals in Milnrow and Newhey, in healthy moderation of course, I know I will try and do my bit.”
