Poundstretcher expands at Rochdale Central Retail Park

Date published: 24 September 2016

Poundstretcher is soon to open the extension to its refitted store at Rochdale Central Retail Park.

The expansion, which was recently completed by owners Town Centre Securities, will create an additional 5,000 square feet of trading area making the store one third larger.

The new layout is expected to be open by the end of September and will enable the site to increase its product categories, as well as adding more to existing ranges such as the very popular ‘Pet Hut’ animal range.

In addition to greater product choice, the expansion, which will have cost almost £1m in total, will improve the overall shopping environment for customers with LED lighting installed and air-conditioning which will keep the store cool during summer months and warm during winter.

Alastair Smith, Senior Asset Manager at Town Centre Securities, who own and manage the Retail Park, said: “We’re delighted that Poundstretcher is expanding its offering. This is a popular store and now it can offer customers the even greater choice and variety they have been asking for.”

In addition to offering customers extra choice, the national chain expects to recruit additional staff to manage the influx of customers.

Gerry Loughran, Managing Director at Poundstretcher, said: “Our store at Rochdale has always performed well and following the expansion we anticipate it will be even more popular, resulting in a need for additional staff members.”

The store will relaunch Saturday 1 October.
