Zen Internet leads the way in the business broadband satisfaction survey

Date published: 29 September 2016

Zen Internet has been named top provider in a comprehensive survey of UK business broadband use, topping three of five categories.

Broadband comparison website Broadband Genie asked 500 decision makers at businesses across the country for their experiences of business internet services.

Zen came top in the Customer Service (with a score of 96%), Technical Support (92%) and Best Value (88%) categories, making the company the leading broadband supplier in the survey by a considerable margin.

Andrew Fryatt, Managing Director of Small Business and Residential at Zen Internet, said: “We’re thrilled to have been named top provider in this large and detailed survey, and really proud that our customers view the services we provide in such a positive light.

“We’re absolutely committed to providing the best service we can to all our users. But we’re not resting on our laurels. We’re in the middle of another major investment in our network which will result in an even more robust and reliable service in the New Year.”

The survey highlighted just how important choosing a dependable broadband supplier is to British business. It found that up to 1.5 million businesses in the UK suffer broadband issues once a week or more, and that losing connectivity costs businesses over £900 an hour on average.

A significant minority of respondents reported losses running into thousands of pounds for every hour of downtime.

Despite that, a third of firms gave the responsibility for resolving broadband issues to non-specialised staff, while a further 11% had nobody in place to deal with internet problems at all.

Mr Fryatt added: “This is precisely why we spend so much time and effort making sure our customer service and technical support are absolutely right. Not all customers have in-house IT departments, but with Zen they have readily available expertise at the end of a telephone line. Our expert support staff don’t read from scripts – they take ownership of customer issues until they’re solved.”

Rob Hilborn, Head of Strategy at Broadband Genie, highlighted the critical importance of dependable broadband services to UK business. “It’s important for businesses to avoid playing fast and loose with their broadband when it’s clearly a critical piece of infrastructure. Getting the proper support in place should be a priority in order to avoid long and expensive periods of downtime.

“There’s a tendency for government to focus on speed when judging broadband, but based on our research we need to make sure reliability is factored in to any equations. Having broadband that is both fast and reliable is key to securing future success for businesses in the UK.”
