HY legal services business relocate to Hunter’s Lane

Date published: 10 April 2017

HY, a new legal services business, has relocated to new offices on Hunter’s Lane as it aims to play a part in supporting the town’s progression.

The company has had a rapid growth from being a start-up bedroom project to being in its own premises, all in the space of eighteen months.

Barrister Dean Hulse and HR expert David Yazdi, jointly started the business in 2015 with more than 20 years of combined experience in their respective fields.

The company has a vision to provide bespoke legal services which feel different to the traditional law firm, one which dares to challenge convention in a sector that, in their view, has been slow to embrace change.

Mr Yazdi said: “As I walk around Rochdale Town Centre there’s a real feeling of change. With the new council building at Number One Riverside, the river reopening and the £100m shopping and leisure development, Rochdale is becoming an attractive place for new businesses.”

Mr Hulse and Mr Yazdi say that opening their offices so close to Toad Lane is not a coincidence.

Both directors proudly assert that many of the ‘Rochdale Principles’, the ideals set out by the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers, mirror the ethos held by HY. They say such principles will act as a constant source of inspiration to HY, and form the fabric of the company’s future development.

Mr Yazdi said: “We are excited by the redevelopment of Rochdale and, like the Co-op, would love for HY to become successful while remaining synonymous with the town. Our commitment to being a great place to work means we want to attract and develop aspiring lawyers and professionals of the future, particularly those who would enjoy working in a creative environment.”

Mr Hulse explained the company’s ambition: “As Rochdale enters a vital phase in its development as part of the Northern Powerhouse, we believe that HY can be an exciting alternative for businesses while also playing a crucial role in revolutionising the way in which legal support is provided to local authorities.”

Councillor Richard Farnell, the leader of Rochdale Council, said: "It's great to see new businesses moving into Rochdale, particularly when they are doing so because they have heard about our regeneration plans and can see the very positive effect they are having on the town centre already. Plenty of work has already been done but there are further exciting times ahead as we create the new Rochdale, which I'm sure HY will be proud to be a part of."
