Date published: 08 February 2018

Olympic Gold medallist Nicola White MBE returned home this week and visited the O2 store in the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre.

Nicola joined the team along with her mum Gill at the O2 store as part of her new sponsorship with North West based O2 franchise, MID Communications Ltd who own the store.

Nicola, an international field hockey player for both England and Great Britain, won a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Store Manager Rick Phelan said of Nicola’s visit: “It has been fantastic having Nicola come into store today, she happily chatted away with both our customers and staff who all enjoyed wearing her meda.”

Nicola posed for photographs with fans who came by to see her and her Rio Gold medal before she jets off to face Argentina in a five match test series this week.

Of the new partnership with MID Communications, Nicola said: “I have been trying to broaden my exposure in the North West for some time now and I feel MID Communications will help me with that, whilst still being present in the local community.

"I am really looking forward to another exciting opportunity for myself and the support to help me build my brand and legacy after sport.”

Danny Simpson, CEO of MID Communications has said partnership, said: “It is great to see the partnership with Nicola come to life and for us to be able to get behind one of our local Olympic champions.

"Today is just the start of some exciting ideas and plans we have in place for this partnership – bring on 2018.”

The partnership will see the telecommunications provider support Nicola for the next three years to aid her in her bid to make the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
