Correction: Poundworld closure
Date published: 18 July 2018
Discount retailer Poundworld have confirmed that the local branch to close will be the Kingsway Poundworld Plus Store, not the one in the centre on Yorkshire Street.
This will result in the redundancies of 16 employees in Rochdale, and 531 employees across the country when the stores close on Tuesday 24 July.
The news follows 105 store closures, announced earlier this month.
The budget retailer appointed Clare Boardman and Daniel Butters, restructuring partners at Deloitte, as joint administrators after a rescue deal fell through.
Discussions continue between the administrators and interested parties for the potential sale of part, or parts, of the remaining business.
