A businessman from Rochdale has won an Asian Business Leaders Award after being nominated in three different categories on Thursday (29 November).

Asad Shamim, CEO of Furniture in Fashion, won the accolade for ‘Successful Application of Digital Media’ at a special presentation in the Grand Suite at Vermilion in Manchester.

Established in 2007, Furniture in Fashion is one of the largest online furniture stores in the UK.

Mr Shamim was the only finalist to be nominated in three categories, ‘Innovation in Business’, ‘Successful Application of Digital Media’ and ‘Business Growth Globally.’

He was presented with the honour by Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Andrew Gwynne MP, and Mohammad Pervaiz.

Mr Shamim said: “I am truly humbled and overwhelmed to receive this prestigious award for my years of hard work and dedication. I have always believed in good ethics which form an integral part of all business development and skills.

“I also strongly believe in passing on knowledge to see the success of others. We must all promote integration in our society and stand as one nation for the betterment of our beautiful country.”
