The owner of a successful hair salon in Perth, Australia, has held a teaching seminar at Gregory Couzens hair salon in Rochdale.

David Hutchinson, originally from Rochdale, showed a variety of techniques and talked about the differences between hairdressing in Australia and the UK.

Mr Hutchinson was the manager at Vidal Sassoon when Gregory Couzens, owner of the salon on The Walk, was the apprentice.

Mr Couzens, said: "It was fantastic to have the opportunity to work with David again. David is a very technical haircutter and taught me a lot about precision haircutting. Also, being a salon owner on the other side of the world, it was good to discuss the recession and yes unfortunately the recession is global, so it was good to exchange ideas."

The training session is said to be the first of many and opens a new dialogue between the two salons.
