Clubs warn businesses over bogus advertisers

Date published: 27 January 2012

Rochdale AFC and Rochdale Hornets have issued a warning to businesses over advertising approaches made in the town.

The clubs have been informed that a company is visiting businesses claiming to be acting on their behalf and selling advertising space at Spotland. However both clubs say that the company is not working on their behalf and they are urging people to refrain from entering any contract with them.

In a joint statement the clubs said: “Rochdale AFC and Rochdale Hornets have received information that a company called PSM is visiting businesses in the area claiming to be acting on behalf of both clubs and selling advertising space at Spotland.

“The representative of this company, believed to be named Kirsty, is offering advertisements and incentives including season tickets at both clubs.

“Rochdale AFC and Rochdale Hornets would like to stress that neither club has appointed this business to work on their behalf and strongly advise anyone approached by them to refrain from entering into any contract with them.

“Both clubs would welcome any further information regarding this company's activities.”

The Football Club does have a relationship with a business called Eleven Sports Media but they have confirmed that they have completed all activity in the area.
