Deadline Looms for Chamber’s Building of the Year Competition

Date published: 18 June 2014

Companies or individuals wishing to submit an entry for the Chamber’s Greater Manchester Building of the Year Award will need to be quick as the deadline is next Friday 27 June.

Now in its tenth year, this highly coveted accolade is given to a new building in Greater Manchester that shows high standards in design quality, construction techniques, sustainability credentials and value for money.

Last year’s trophy was awarded to Number One Riverside in Rochdale which impressed judges due to its ‘stunning design, its high quality of build and its contribution to the regeneration of Rochdale town centre’.

The Apprentice of the Year award, now in its second year, will also be presented on the night to an apprentice working in a construction related role on a full apprenticeship framework. The winner will be presented with the award and a prize to the value of £1,000.

The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at the Property and Construction sector’s Annual Dinner at The Hilton Deansgate in Manchester, on 23 October.

Commenting on the Building of the Year Award, Matthew Kershaw, Policy and Campaigns Manager at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’ve had some really interesting entries for the Building of the Year Award so far, but there is still time to submit an entry. This prestigious award aims to celebrate the industry and the successful projects that are enhancing people’s lives on a daily basis. As this is the tenth year, we’re expecting a really strong field, and a winner that Greater Manchester can be proud of.”

The Building of the Year Award will be presented to the commissioning body, not the designers or contractors, and the deadline for entries is Friday 27 June 2014.
