Yearsley Group staff complete Three Peaks Challenge

Date published: 25 June 2014

An intrepid team of adventurers from Yearsley Group in Heywood, completed one of the most difficult walking challenges in the UK ‘The Three Peaks Challenge’ this weekend in aid of the company’s chosen charity for 2014, Grace’s Place.

The team included from left to right, John Hodgson, Jonathan Baker, Lee Milburn, Jonathan Smith (I could do it in my flip flops – he didn’t), David Williams, Ross Colin, Jonathan Baker, Dave Barlow, Josh Taylor and Harry Yearsley, with Andy Rush designated support crew for the weekend.

The challenge involved walking up the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours. That was over 23 miles of steep inclines, long and twisting trails and even some snow on top of Ben Nevis.

The Three Peaks challenge is one of the many fundraising activities Yearsley Group are embarking on in 2014. The aim of the company is to raise £10,000 to provide the children of Grace’s Place with beautiful gardens and outdoor play areas in time for the opening this September.

Harry Yearsley, Managing Director of Yearsley Group commented: "The challenge pushed each of us to our limits but knowing that every step we climbed was helping this very worthy cause kept the momentum going throughout the weekend.’ He continued ‘the support we have received has been phenomenal, with donations still flooding in and we would like to thank everyone for their generosity."

Grace’s Place will be a specialist children’s hospice providing palliative and end of life care for children from Oldham, Rochdale, Middleton, Heywood and Bury.
