Brown’s Handcrafted Cakes wins Rochdale Town Centre Independent Trader of the Year Award

Date published: 22 July 2014

Brown’s Handcrafted Cakes has won the Rochdale Town Centre Independent Trader of the Year Award.

Anne Catterall, from Brown's, said: “We were really surprised to win the award because it is not something we have done before. We love what we do so it is nice to see that other people appreciate what you do as well.”

Brown’s, located on St Mary’s Gate in Rochdale Town Centre, specialises in hand crafted wedding cakes, birthday cakes, christening cakes and celebration cakes.

Businesses could nominate themselves for the award or members of the public could submit nominations for the award.

Anne said: “We didn’t actually know it was happening so someone rang Natasha to tell her and then we decided to get involved. I think we did the nomination the day before it closed so it was very last minute, which adds to the surprise of winning.”

Brown’s will now head to the national final to represent Rochdale with some of the best loved firms from across the UK.

“The award is made better knowing that people from Rochdale have voted for us,” said Anne.
