Convergys Intelligent Contact win Heart Safe Award for SME of the year

Date published: 13 October 2014

Convergys Intelligent Contact, based in Middleton, has won the Heart Safe Award for SME of the year at the 2014 Heart Safe Awards.

Site Director, Hayley Trow said: “It was a big surprise for us to win and we didn’t expect to win at all. We are delighted to have won and it is really down to the hard work of Janice Cheetham, our training manager.”

The SME of the year award was awarded to celebrate an outstanding business with 2-100 employees who have invested in life saving equipment and staff training to provide a Heart Safe Environment.

Hayley added: “Janice has trained all of our new staff coming in to the company and has trained all of the staff that we currently have employed. That is a huge undertaking and Janice is a star for doing all of that work.”

Janice has been responsible for training staff in using a defibrillator as well as teaching them basic resuscitation skills.

“Janice has also spent time outside of her normal job as training manager to conduct some of this training too whilst also volunteering at a second job for the North West ambulance service across both evening and weekends,” added Hayley.

The UK Heart Safe Awards is the UK’s first nationwide awards competition to celebrate organisations and employers who invest in creating Heart Safe environments as well as the acts of individuals who have saved lives while at work or leisure.

“Even though we are based on a residential street, we are a large employer and the award really does recognise the work we have been doing over the past year,” added Hayley.
