Rochdale and Oldham Law Associations see red

Date published: 13 December 2014

After hearing that the Rochdale Children’s Contact Centre was under threat of closure due to lack of funding, Pam Walsh, the President of the Rochdale Law Association, saw red and decided to do something to help.

Pam decided to hold a see red day on Friday 5 December to help raise awareness and funds for the contact centre.

She said: “I first heard that the Oldham and Bury Children’s Contact centres had closed and that the Rochdale Children’s Contact Centre was also under threat of closure due to a lack of funding. This made me ‘see red’. This was the vision behind my idea for the see red day.”

The appeal and fundraising began in November at the Rochdale Law Association annual dinner, which raised £260, but Pam and the Association wanted to do more.

Pam invited member firms to wear an item of red clothing for the day and to make a donation of £1 to the Child and Family Connect Charity.

“We also invited the Oldham Law Association to join us and several of their firms also ran the event at their offices. We are collecting the money as we speak and all money shall be sent on to the Child and Family Connect charity before Christmas.

“I have since been informed by Child and Family Connect that the Oldham and Bury Contact Centres have secured some funding to re-open but on restricted hours,” said Pam.
