Istanblue receive highly recommended award at British Kebab Awards

Date published: 12 January 2015

A Rochdale takeaway has been ‘Highly Recommended’ at the British Kebab Awards 2015 after narrowly missing out as winner of the Best Delivery prize.

Istanblue, on Milkstone Road, was named runner up in the Just Eat Best Delivery category at the awards, celebrating the cultural and economic contributions of the British kebab industry, which is worth an estimated £2.2 billion.

Prizes were dished out by a panel of 19 judges, including Members of Parliament and culinary professionals.

Istanblue was nominated for an award by Simon Danczuk, MP for Rochdale, who named it his favourite local kebab restaurant and credited the contribution such establishments make to the town’s economy.

Erhan Karakoc, Owner of Istanblue said: “Thank you to everyone that supported Istanblue at the British Kebab Awards 2015. It was a pleasure to represent Rochdale at the national awards. I would like to congratulate all of my staff, Simon Danczuk for his support and all of the great kebab
lover’s customers. Thank you very much.”

British Kebab Awards research estimates that 1.3 million kebabs are sold in Britain every day by around 17,000 outlets.
