Double whammy for Zen Internet

Date published: 31 March 2015

Zen Internet has become the first ISP in the UK to be awarded two regulatory accreditations after a rigorous testing period. the Cyber Essentials Plus certification and IASME Gold standard.

The company’s security controls were assessed by certification body SJG Digital earlier this month, and after a successful result Zen joins a handful of schools, police forces and online retailers who possess both the accolades.

As of the end of February, there were 333 companies in the UK with the Cyber Essentials Certification but only 76 with Cyber Essentials Plus – with Zen the only ISP. Companies holding the CE+ certification are less likely than those without the certification to become victim to cybercrime activities such as phishing or hacking.

Richard Tang, Managing Director of Zen Internet, said receiving the certification is a landmark moment for the company: “Being awarded these two honourable certifications verifies our most important ethos – that nothing is more important than protecting our user.

"To be the first ISP in the UK to receive these awards is an honour, and a reflection of our commitment to security.

“Awareness of online safety is increasing as internet users are exposed to news of high-profile hacks and malware programmes almost daily. Zen Internet is keen to prove we’ll do anything in our power to ensure we don’t unwittingly place our customers and their data in a jeopardised position in our now highly-connected world.

“We hope to work together with the government and SJG Digital to spread the word about these certifications, and make Britain a safer place to shop, socialise and do business online.”

Stuart Green, MD at SJG Digital said: “It is truly a remarkable thing that Zen Internet have managed to do; it’s a big deal in this industry. These two prestigious acknowledgements, teamed with Zen’s ISO27001 accreditation, prove just how highly it values the integrity of its customers, which is vital in this age where we rely so heavily on the internet and its powers.”
