Honda car dealership to be redeveloped as a new state-of-the-art Honda centre and an all-new Volkswagen Van Centre

The Honda dealership on Queensway in Rochdale is to be redeveloped as a new state-of-the-art Honda centre and an all-new Volkswagen Van Centre.

Swansway Group, which owns the dealership, will spend £3.5million on the development.

Group director Peter Smyth said: “There is a lot of exciting new Honda products on the way, so we decided the time was right to build a fresh new dealership to showcase the cars, here in Rochdale.

“We’re also looking forward to expanding our Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle operations into North Manchester. Swansway has four Volkswagen Van Centres in other areas and it’s particularly exciting to move into Rochdale on the back of our big win at brands award [Swansway won the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Retail Group of the Year Award 2014].

“As a Group we strive to provide our customers with a level of service which keeps them coming back for more; this new Honda centre will definitely help us deliver the very highest standards of customer service.”

Councillor Richard Farnell said: “This is a significant investment and great news for Rochdale. It will also mean new jobs being created.

"It comes on the back of several positive announcements recently – including car components giant Tetrosyl relocating its company headquarters to the town, creating 130 jobs; a massive £7million investment at Hanson Springs and new shops opening in the town centre. This is yet another positive story about Rochdale.

"Our local economy is shaking off the recession and is steadily growing. I am confident it will continue to grow, creating much needed jobs and prosperity for the town.”

Swansway will break ground on the new site in October 2015 and the site should be open in late June 2016.
