Opticians celebrate 20 years in Rochdale

Date published: 22 May 2015

All eyes are on Rochdale Specsavers this month as it celebrates 20 years of caring for the eyes and ears of the local community.

The store, based on Yorkshire Street, held a fun-packed special event to mark its birthday on 15 May and treated its special guest, first ever customer Nicola Gibson for a free eye test and designer pair of glasses.

Reflecting on the last 20 years, Nicola, said: “I've been with Specsavers for so long because the staff are friendly and they always provide a good service. To find out I was one of their first ever customers was a surprise. But I enjoyed the day and was delighted to receive a free pair of glasses and the flowers were stunning. Thank you Specsavers.”

There was also a big chocolate cake for customers on the day and a spot of charity fundraising as staff wore green and sold cupcakes to raise funds for the Spring Hill Hospice.

Store director at Specsavers in Rochdale, Catherine Hughes, says: "This is a significant milestone for our store and we are proud to be one of the town’s long-standing businesses.

"None of this would have been possible without the lasting support of our customers in the local community so, on behalf of the whole team, I’d like to say a huge thank you."

"It’s been great to see our first ever customer Nicola again today and I’d like to thank her for joining us for this special celebration."
