Mike Newton short-listed for the Northern Independent Retail Awards

Date published: 07 July 2015

Mike Newton, of Treat Yourself Boutique, has been short-listed in the Fashion Retailer of the Year category in the inaugural Northern Independent Retail Awards. Treat Yourself will find out if they will be crowned winners at a ceremony being held at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel on Sunday 19 July 2015.

Mike, current Rochdale Businessman of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year said: "To be even nominated in a category with some of the biggest most influential independent retailers across the North West is just unbelievable and I’m so happy to be a part of it. Having only launched two years ago to be recognised and have been nominated by my customers is so humbling.

"We’ve had a tough couple of months recently with the fire at our shop premises so this award nomination has totally come out of the blue, but I’m so grateful to everyone that voted for us. There are lots of amazing independent retailers in Rochdale so by being nominated, and fingers crossed if we win I really hope it does Rochdale proud, because all my customers have been so supportive since I started on the markets a few years ago."

The awards seek to acknowledge the dedication and successful performance of the public’s favourite independent retailers. The award ceremony provides a platform to show appreciation for those businesses that make our communities different.

As well as recognising the commercial success and achievements of the independent retail businesses in Northern England, the awards will be raising money for the Make a Wish Foundation. The charity is dedicated to granting wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses across the UK in order to help them have their dreams come true. We kindly urge everyone to contribute generously to this fantastic cause and aid the charity to achieve its goal.
