All in one factory for PDS

A Rochdale based door and window manufacturer have relocated their double glazing production for a more efficient working practice.

Performance Doorset Solutions (PDS) who acquired Acorn Glass in 2009, has moved all sealed unit and glass processing to its current premises on Greenvale Business Park, Rochdale.

Tim Fairley, Managing Director said: “Relocating our glass factory and integrating to one site makes the logistical management of our production process much more streamlined, and enables us to increase production and quickly rectify daily issues as and when they arise. We are also able to respond faster to emergency call outs, where security doors and windows are needed quickly; for example after a burglary or fire.”

PDS are manufacturers of bespoke door entry systems, fire doors, windows, purpose made joinery and in house double glazing.

“With a combined assembly point for factory finished doors and windows we can now fully control quality and are able to offer clients a high standard of product with a competitive lead time. We have also invested in state of the art CNC glass cutting and optimisation machinery which will further improve our production methods.”

PDS are one of a select group of companies entitled to use the Secured by Design logo and promote the term “Police Preferred Specification” on products which have passed the tests specified by the ACPO Secured By Design initiative.

“The move has pushed the head count at Greenvale up to 110, which has doubled since we first moved here in 2006. Now with an additional 16,000ft unit, we have more capacity to expand the glazing side of the business, we hope to further increase this figure in 2010.”
