Date set for business awards

This year’s Rochdale Business Awards will be held on Friday 2 November.

The awards, now in their second year, have been organised to celebrate businesses in the borough.

The inaugural Rochdale Business Awards took place in November last year at a glamorous event at the Town Hall and organisers hope the event will become a firm fixture in the borough’s calendar.

Following the success of last year’s awards night some firms have already agreed to sponsor the event.

So far NatWest, Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd, Inspired Spaces and Richard Whittaker Ltd – a winner from last year’s event – are sponsoring the awards.

The categories for this year are yet to be finalised but it is believed they will be the same as last year:

• Business of the Year (turnover more than £5m)
• Business of the Year (turnover £1m - £5m)
• Business of the Year (turnover under £1m)
• Start-up Business
• Business Man/Woman of the Year
• Young Entrepreneur
• Environmental Award
• Business Co-operation Award 

Nominations for the awards will be accepted later in the year.

In May a thank you event for last year’s sponsors will take place.
