Rochdale company wins £2.5million MOD contract

The Government has awarded a £2.5million contract to a Rochdale firm to make sea water drinkable on board the Royal Navy's entire fleet.

Salt Separation Services, based at Grosvenor House, Gorrell Street, have been asked to take over the ships' desalination equipment and provide technical support.

The Ministry of Defence, who awarded the contract, say Salt Separation Services will guarantee continuity of supply at significant savings.

Rochdale’s Labour Parliamentary Candidate, Simon Danczuk, said he was delighted to see the Government investing in an innovative Rochdale Company.

“It’s great to see this local, innovative business being recognised in this way,” he said. “This business has been running for 18 years and their expertise is clearly valued at the highest level. They are a credit to Rochdale and I congratulate them on their success.”

Salt Separation Services are already working with the Royal Navy after having recently won a £1.3m contract to install specialist equipment on two Royal Navy aircraft carriers, which would enable the ships to turn more than a million litres of sea water into drinking water each day.
