Employers Battle Against Stress

A North West Stress Management Practitioner is launching an online recording system that will allow employers to gain an instant insight into how stress is affecting their workforces.

Stress Torque TM, whose regional practice operates from Rochdale is rolling out the audit system that allows employees to provide in-confidence reports on their well being.

And the Stress Torque team is warning that organisations that ignore the high levels of stress that their employees suffer, risk legal action from employees as well as sanctions from the Health and Safety Executive under a new government initiative.

Stress Manager Michelle Deans said, “all types of organisations would benefit from being able to identify areas of concern as well as minor trends the more the system is uses”.

She said “Stress is now the prime reason for long term absence from work in the UK so if the numbers of walking wounded in a particular organisation seems to be rising, that organisation must take note and act on the information. Exposure to long periods of stress can contribute to a wide range of ailments from ulcers and infections to depression and heart disease.”
