Thank you from Jim Dobbin's family

Jim Dobbin KSG Member of Parliament

Pat and family offer their sincere thanks to all relatives, friends, colleagues and councillors for their kind and comforting messages and support at this sad time.

Thanks to all who attended the Reception Mass at St Vincent’s and the Requiem Mass at Salford Cathedral. A special thankyou to Canon Paul Brindle, Bishop Terence Brain and Fr Kevin Tierney and to all the clergy who concelebrated at both Masses.

We were greatly helped in our grief by the letters, cards, emails, phone calls and visits received and we have been overwhelmed by the genuine appreciation of Jim’s work.

Generous donations were made to Myaware, a charity for people with myasthenia gravis and we are very grateful for these contributions which will be used to further research.

We would like to thank Andrzej Kanthak, British Consulate and Maciej Kablinski, the Mayor of the City of Slupsk in Poland, for the kindness and practical support provided for us after Jim died.

Sincere thanks are due to Sir Alan Meale MP who stayed with us and helped with arrangements in Poland and to David Crausby MP who made all necessary arrangements in the UK.

We were extremely grateful for the invaluable services of the translator Ivona Kwiatkowska. Special thanks also to Peter and Krystian at the Hotel Pod Kluka who were so helpful and kind on the night Jim died.

Many thanks to Dorothy at the Town Hall for the lovely food provided after the funeral and to Linda Fisher and Mark Widdup and all council staff who supported the funeral arrangements.

We are also grateful to Laura from the music service in Rochdale for bringing the young musicians who entertained us with singing during the meal and to Gary Webster who kindly helped with transport.

The family would finally like to say a great big thank you to Clifford Oldham Funeral Directors for their excellent service in arranging the funeral and their patience, sympathy and loving care at such a difficult time.
