Squad update

Date published: 23 January 2014

Fan favourite 'Angry' Gaz Langley has returned from an extended holiday in Australia vowing to win his place back on the wing ahead of the 2014 opener away at Sheffield.

Langley commented: "I am behind, there is no doubt about it but I will work hard. Everything has gone up a notch since last year, the gym work has intensified certainly but with hard work il be ready."

Casey Mayberry has struggled with hamstring strains following a tough pre-season schedule and Sean Casey picked up a dead leg in training, which meant he missed the game at Leigh.

Front rowers Tyrer and Gilchrist are working on their fitness following injuries.

Coach Ian Talbot knows a tough season is ahead: "I think the lads got their eyes opened at Keighley. Yes it was our first run out and we made a lot of changes but Keighley did the same.

"We will certainly have the lowest budget in that league next year and what I ask my lads for is a bit of fight and team spirit. We had a chat as a squad on Tuesday and appointed a leadership team that will bring the team together.

"I'm sure that we will see a different attitude by the time we take on St Helen's and Hunslet at Spotland."

Many of the Hornets players still require a player sponsor for the 2014 season.
