Lewis Sheridan and experienced campaigner Dave Llewellyn are both included in Ian Talbot’s squad for the weekend's Challenge Cup fixture against the University of Gloucestershire All Golds.

Sheridan has re-signed for the club following a stint with local amateurs Rochdale Mayfield in the National Conference League. Head coach Ian Talbot commented: "Lewis wasn’t quite mature enough last season to play first team rugby. He played a lot of games in the twenties but needed the experience of open age rugby. Mayfield offered him that in the NCL and he was instrumental in their fantastic finish to last season. We have kept tabs on him and he now looks physically stronger and ready for the step up. We have brought him back for the long term and he has a bright future ahead of him."

On the return of Llewellyn, Talbot commented: "Dave returns after an extended pre season rest. He has been training for the last few weeks and is in good shape. He was one of our most consistent performers last year and will add some much needed experience."

Talbot looks set to be without Dandy (ribs) and Casey (back) but is boosted by the availability of some dual registration players if he requires them, including James Tilley, who starred at hooker at Featherstone.

Weekend Tickets

Hornet’s season ticket holders get half price admission for the weekend's game with Gloucester All Gold’s.

You will need to produce Voucher A from your season ticket book at the turnstile, or get your ticket in advance at the Hornets office between 12:00noon and 3:00pm on Saturday.

Standard pricing is £10 adults, £5 concessions and under 16s go free.

Sheffield re-arrangement

Sheffield Eagles and Rochdale Hornets have ruled out an Easter Monday clash due to player welfare and the availability of Owlerton Stadium.

Both clubs have provisionally agreed to play on Sunday 27 April, providing neither club has Challenge Cup commitments.

A fall back date will be agreed if needed, with Hornets preferring a fixture around Challenge Cup final weekend.

Details will be confirmed as soon as the club's Challenge Cup status is known.

Ladies fixtures double up

Rochdale Hornets ladies are currently 'doubling up', as they start their switch for the winter WRLA League to the RFL Summer League.

The crossover was expected to be minimal but a back log of WRLA fixtures due to the winter weather is causing some issues.

Nevertheless, the ladies first summer fixture is this Sunday, away at Wigan St Patrick's.

There is still no venue confirmed by WRLA for the Women's Challenge Cup final, to be played on Easter Sunday. Wherever the venue, Hornets will be putting on coach travel for any supporters wishing to cheer the girls on.
