The 2015 is already just around the corner.

Wayne English, Dave Llewellyn and Jordan Case are expected complete formalities on new deals next week, alongside head coach Ian Talbot and his backroom team, leaving Hornets better prepared than ever for the upcoming season.

Hornets will prepare for the season with the Supporters Direct Shield fixture on Sunday 8 February against fellow fan owned club Hunslet Hawks.

The final preparations will take place a week later against NCL Premier outfit Thatto Heath, from whom the club have recruited a number of player in recent years. Thatto are the biggest amateur club in the country and are set to provide a stern test to the Hornets ahead of the Challenge Cup, League Cup and League competitions.

A friendly is also planned on or around 1 February, with details expected to be confirmed in due course.

Player and match sponsorship will openly be on sale from Monday, along with Early Bird season tickets.

International Appeal

Rochdale Hornets would like to pass on their best wishes to the Hornets players playing on the world stage in the autumn internationals.

Sean Casey, Stuart Littler and Shannon McDonnell, who all featured for Hornets last term, are all representing Ireland in the European Competition whilst outgoing Ryan Millard is representing Fiji against Lebanon.

Half term talent camp

Rochdale Hornets are hosting a half term camp in which they hope to discover the next Super League Academy prospects.

The sessions are part of the RFL ‘Embed the Pathway’ programme and sessions will run on Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 October. The sessions will run from 10am-1pm each day on the 3g at Matthew Moss High School and are open to players in the Rochdale and surrounding areas playing in the under 12-16 age groups.

The camp will be sponsored by Safeguard Group.

Terri departs

Rochdale Hornets community manager Terri Davey has moved on after five years with the club.

Terri worked tirelessly to build Hornets reputation in the school and community network within her time, as well as establishing the Hornets Ladies team.

Heritage Festival

Spotland Stadium is set to host the touring RL Cares Heritage Exhibition from 2-17 December at Spotland Stadium.

The exhibition will take centre stage of what is set to be a Heritage Festival, as the 2014 Heroes of Hornets inductions take place on the 4 December and other events such as heritage talks, show and tell and a programme and memorabilia collectors fair are all planned by the heritage committee.

The exhibition will come to Rochdale after its recent runs in Hull and Workington.

It features many items from the 'Steveo' collection recently housed at the George Hotel as well as new, never before seen rugby league artefacts.

The exhibition will be open 10am-4pm every day, free of charge, with special days for schools and community groups.

Satellite sessions to give clubs a boost

The first satellite sessions of the Project 3-60 programme will start in the new term, under the watchful eye of Hornets new recruit James Tilley.

The sessions are designed to help bridge the gap from school to club rugby and the first batch of year 7 sessions will take place at Wardle, Hollingworth and Matthew Moss High Schools aiming to boost the numbers at Littleborough, Cobras and Mayfield respectively.

Never mind Fiji Fit, it is all about Benji Fit

With Ryan Millard now departed, the Wednesday night fitness class is getting a new tutor.

Former Hornet Benji Lloyd will be at Spotland on Wednesday evening to put people through their paces, although the Fiji Fit name will stay, as Saddleworth Fit doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.

The session runs 7pm-8pm in Studds Bar and is open to anyone, costing just £2. The circuits are designed for all fitness levels and have proved popular so far.

Bowled Over

The gents continue to hold the bragging rights over the ladies at the Hornets indoor bowls sessions, in association with Rochdale Boroughwide Housing.

The popular indoor sessions run 10am-12 on Thursdays and are a great way to meet new people and have a social game of indoor bowls.

Biased crown green bowls are used on a long mat, so a great way to get your fix of bowls in an informal manner over the winter months.

Booking is essential, so please call 01706 648004 (10-4) or email info@hornetsrugbyleague.com if you want to join in.
