Three new signings for 2015

Hornets recruitment continues with the addition of three new signings for 2015.

Veteran back rower Dave Llewellyn has this week put pen to paper on a one year extension.

Ireland international Brad Hargreaves has agreed an initial one year deal. Following a blistering performance for Ireland against Wales last weekend, in which he bagged a superb hat-trick, Hornets moved quickly to secure his services as a host of Championship and League One clubs made offers to the player.

The third signing was completed when Australian Dean Mignacca agreed to join the club. Mignacca came through the ranks at St George Illawara playing in the SG Ball competition before moving to play in the Illawara Competition. A solid defender with a great turn of pace from dummy half, he will add strength and depth to an already impressive squad. Mignacca plays at either hooker or half back and comes highly recommended by ex-Hornet Ryan Millard.

“The players will add something different to the squad,” commented head coach Ian Talbot.

“Brad has been on our radar for a while and we wanted to have a look at him over pre-season. He had four or five other clubs make him an offer recently so we moved quickly to ensure we didn’t miss out on him.

“He can play wing or centre and his coaches at Ireland see him as a possible back rower as well going forward, so he is versatile.

“We won’t rush him but as he showed at weekend he is very talented and one to watch.”

On the signing of Dean Mignacca, CEO Ryan Bradley commented: “He is one that Ryan Millard recommended to us.

“We have seen plenty of his games on video and spoken to a few people and everything we see and hear is positive.

“He is 27 so has a good level of experience behind him. He wants to prove himself over here and we are delighted to offer him that opportunity.”

Hargreaves and Mignacca will join up with the rest of the Hornets squad when they return for pre-season on 18 November.
