Hornets Heritage Festival opens

Date published: 06 December 2014

Mayor Carol Wardle and Hornets old boy Danny Sculthorpe officially opened the Hornets Heritage Festival on Tuesday 1 December at Spotland Stadium.

Sponsors, members and guests attended the VIP opening on Tuesday and members of the public can now visit Spotland to learn more on the history of the game, view interesting artifacts and read about how rugby league has been a part of community life through the ages.

"There is something for everyone" commented Victoria Dawson, Rugby League Cares. "The exhibition doesn’t focus on particular matches or memorable games, it tells the story of how the game has been part and parcel of people’s lives for generations."

The Rugby League Cares touring exhibition is at the heart of a series events planned by the Rochdale Hornets Heritage Committee over the next couple of weeks.
