247dancewear, a Rochdale based retailer of all types of dancewear, is selling via the Rochdale Online Department Store.

The company, which has been trading for over 10 years, joined the latest Rochdale Online venture to promote their shop local ethos.

Susan Keegan, from 247dancewear, said: “We are Rochdale born and bred and like to promote the idea of buying and selling locally and that is what the store does.”

The Rochdale Online Department store is an online hub for local and independent retailers from across the Rochdale borough to sell their products.

Susan added: “I’m pleased that I got on board with the department store.”

247dancewear caters for a variety of dance disciplines including ballet and gymnastics.

“The store is very easy to use so I can’t fault that at all,” added Susan.

As well as items such as ballet shoes and leotards, 247dancewear is selling Swarovski crystals for customers to customise their outfits and shoes.

Susan said: “We have had orders for the crystals so that has been good.”

Springboard Research for the British Retail Consortium last year found that high street footfall was down 26% between 2007 and 2013 during traditional hours. However, it should be noted that the same research revealed growth in numbers between 5.00pm and 8.00pm.

The intent of the Rochdale Online Department Store is to help retailers overcome the cost hurdle that prevents many from attempting to sell online. The Rochdale Online Department Store is Rochdale's multi-vendor e-commerce facility. It enables Rochdale businesses to collectively sell their goods and services from one website.

“The more business we get from it, the better,” added Susan.
