Letter: Disappointed with the lack of support for Rochdale AFC

Date published: 05 January 2017

Dear Editor,

I was born and brought up in the Sudden area but left Rochdale just over 50 years ago to follow my career.

I've always been proud of my background and am a supporter of Rochdale AFC.

However, I am very disappointed with the lack of support for the team.

I understand that not everyone likes football and also some people prefer Premiership to League One, that is their prerogative but the Dale currently has a fantastic squad and a fantastic management team and promotion to the Championship is a possibility.

One of the biggest problems facing the club is to hold on to the players and management and this is only possible with better support.

Consider that out of the top six clubs in the league Rochdale are the fifth worst supported with an average home gate this season of 3,412.

Compare this with Sheffield Utd 20,141, Bradford City 18,075 and Bolton 14,608 and you can see that under the circumstances the Dale are performing magnificently.
