Letter: Allen Brett has been elected Leader of the Council, again!

Date published: 12 December 2017

Dear Editor,

Allen Brett has been elected Leader of the Council, again!

Brett has said that he supports more affordable homes to rent.

I hope from this that he is in full support of RBH's proposal for College Bank and Lower Falinge regeneration. Both areas have suffered from Farnell's, Lambert's and his leadership.

He has also said that the Council will invest to attract more business and create the good local jobs people need.

I have been saying this for the past seven years, why is it now that he realises that this needs to be done?

He wants to end the scandal of Rochdale's homeless - yet it has been okay for the Council to ignore it previously.

In 2012, the then leader, Colin Lambert, announced on a radio interview with me, that the Council had ignored Lower Falinge, and other areas, for the past 20 years.

This covers Brett's previous attempt at being leader.

Brett is one of the causes of Rochdale being in the position it is in now, yet, Labour deem him capable of bringing in much needed change.
