Letter: Take action to protect vulnerable tenants from another winter in the cold

Date published: 26 February 2018

Dear Editor,

Plans to force landlords to pay for energy efficiency improvements for tenants in cold homes do not go nearly far enough to protect the most vulnerable.

The government has opened the proposals for comment.

It is an opportunity to tell the government that private landlords must be required to properly protect the tenants they profit from.

A wide range of groups, from 10:10 to Citizens Advice to the Parliamentary Committee on Fuel Poverty are demanding the cost cap be raised from £2,500 to £5,000. This would insulate over 100,000 additional homes.

We only have weeks left to get a better outcome for renters in cold homes.

Concerned readers can join the 10:10 campaign and lobby the current government to take action to protect vulnerable tenants for another winter in the cold at:

Thank you.

Yours,

Andrew Wastling
