Target of £40,000 for Cafod reached at Holy Family College

Holy Family College has raised over £40,000 for CAFOD.

For several years a CAFOD group has existed in the school and there are now 25 members from all five years. The group meets regularly and organise fund raising events. Collections are usually made each day in school and special events, such as Family Fast Days are organised. On these days students miss one meal and donate the amount saved to CAFOD.

In recognition of their service, loyalty and commitment to CAFOD the students were invited to a special celebration meal in a local restaurant.

A group of these students were invited to meet Bishop John Arnold, Bishop of Salford at his residence at Wardley Hall.

Bishop Arnold is the Chairman of the national CAFOD Agency. He thanked the students for their support and achievements over the years.

In 1976, the pupils, staff and friends of the then, St. Joseph’s Secondary School, which was replaced by Holy Family College, started supporting CAFOD, the Developing World Organisation. CAFOD (The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) works worldwide and supports some of the poorest people.
