Summer Fair

Summer Fair made a whopping £1100 this year. Thank you to Junior Blast and our Band, all the parents, PTFA and all the helpers … and sunshine.

A new attraction was the Shetland ponies and traps which were a great success.

Fun Fitness and Finance week

As an extension of Fun Fitness and Finance week, an example is that of Robyn Long, Carys White, Emilia Booth and Madison Lawlor. They ran their own stall and made £20.80. This has been donated back to them by the PTFA for them to decide how best to benefit their class and /or a charity of their choice.

Pots of Pennies made approximately £400. Thank you.

Our successes this year

Building improvements to the School

Last week we were informed that, over the summer, there is to be extensive building work in school. This involves replacing all hot and cold pipework and lowering and replacing all ceilings. On top of the usual end of term preparations, we have had to pack everything away including all computers and resources.

The work was due to finish on 1 September although this was very optimistic. The Local Authority has now given us 2 further closure days to make sure the work is finished and the school is ready for the pupils. The last thing we want is to get to 1 September and find the work has not been completed and that we can’t open until the 7 September.

Therefore the decision has been made to remain closed on 5 and 6 September to pupils and re-open on Wednesday 7 September. This gives you advance notice for childcare if needed.

Staff will be in school from 1 September getting ready for the children, so that we can open, come what may, on 7 September at 8.50am.

We are pleased that the local authority are spending this money – close to £316, 000- on continuing to make the school the best in the area, and apologise that this will entail these extra closure days. The situation is not of our making and we have had no say in the timescales, nor the type of mechanical works being carried out. All we can say is that we will do our utmost to make sure school is perfect for the children to return to, so that we can build on all our many successes this year.

Reminders

We are now closing the car park gate before and after school so that cars cannot come in except for those with disabled stickers. It is only for disabled parents with a displayed disabled badge and staff.
