Springhill Hospice Summer Serenade

Date published: 25 July 2016

Springhill Hospice grounds transformed into a Summer Serenade to remember on Saturday (23 July).

A combination of perfect weather, perfect pitch and plenty of picnickers made for an evening of entertainment enjoyed by everyone.

Compere, Dudley Doolittle, took charge of the fundraiser introducing Littleborough Band, Heywood choir, Voice, soloist Shelley Byrne and the Greater Manchester Police Male Voice Choir.

Even Arnie the Hospice cat joined the revellers.

Approximately £2,000 was raised on the night from ticket sales, a huge raffle, sponsorship from local business Roma Publications and an offer of £200 for tickets to the filming of Countdown, donated by Dudley Doolittle.

Lillie Winterbottom said: “It was a fabulous night of entertainment.

“It was lovely to see our visitors picnicking in the grounds and even more wonderful that, as the concert is held in Hospice grounds, patients and staff could join in too.

“We are already planning next year’s extravaganza.”
