Springhill Hospice summer update

Date published: 25 July 2016

Springhill Hospice’s fundraising year got off to a flying start with events supported by the communities of Rochdale, Middleton and Heywood.

The last six months have been packed full of events, from fashion shows to Margaret Hopkinson being named Woman of Rochdale 2016, from walkers off on the 10km Sprint or Stroll and turning the town green on Go Green Day.

Lillie Winterbottom, Springhill’s Fundraising Manager, said: “The Spring Fair was a huge hit and April’s Hospice-to-Hospice Walk broke all the records again raising over £19,000.

“Our Summer Fair in June proved very popular, The Dog Show & Traditional Country Fete saw hundreds of wagging tails and panting puppies enjoying the sunshine at Rochdale’s Riding Club.

“All of the money raised at these events goes directly to fund patient care at the Hospice, which costs £3.2 million a year to run."

The next six months

Sunday 7 August will see the Hospice’s award winning gardens open to the public.

The 2017 hospice calendar will be unveiled on 25 August.

September is a month of sport with the golf competition and mixed pairs bowling final.

On Sunday 20 November the Hospice hosts its hugely popular Christmas Fair.

The Man of Rochdale is decided on Friday 25 November at Rochdale Town Hall.

Sunday 11 December is the grand fundraising finale – the Santa Dash or Dawdle around Hollingworth Lake.
