Gordon Rigg win ‘It’s a knockout’ event

Date published: 09 August 2016

Gordon Rigg Garden Centres finished first and third in the ‘It’s a knockout’ event at Falinge Park on Sunday (7 August).

The event, which the Mayor Ray Dutton and Mayoress Elaine Dutton attended, had teams of 6-12 people to complete on a giant inflatable obstacle course to raise money for various charities and good causes around the Rochdale borough.

Fiona Roberts, who was a part of the Gordon Rigg team which came third, said: “We always enjoy raising money for charity but this was a really enjoyable day. We had a lot of fun, it was a great team building activity and thankfully the rain held off.

“We raised £250 for St. Johns Ambulance, which is a worthy cause because teaching first aid to children is really important. Gordon Rigg also covered the cost of entering for our teams, which will go towards the restoration of Falinge Park.

“Everyone here is really proud of the 16 team members who took part and obviously to come in first and third was great too. All of us have been talking about how great it was ever since.”

Youngsters from the Lower Falinge Activity group were also involved in the event and had an equally enjoyable day.

Andy Littlewood, chairperson of the group, said: “They were a credit to Lower Falinge and I am so proud of each and every one of them.”
