Music in the Park

Over one hundred people attended the young people’s music in the park at Limefield Park. 

The first part of the event was dedicated to young people with talent and the next part was open mic style when adults could also perform.

Kemoy Walker, from the Youth Zone Factory, hosted the event. A young gospel choir from the Middleton Band performed and X factor finalist Babalola's performance was fantastic. Local talent included Holly Weiss, Connor Ashton and Rochdale’s Kendra.

There were singers, dancers, rappers, beat boxing, face painting, henna art, penalty shootout, bouncy castle, multi-sports, health issues consultations and advice on drug and alcohol issues.

There was also an interclub go kart challenge race, where youth clubs raced home-made push karts they made throughout the summer.

Councillor Donna Martin, who attended the event, said: "Such a fantastic way for young people to make use of the park, it was a great evening with young people of all ages being given the opportunity to showcase their talent."

Councillor June West added: “It was a lovely relaxed family event organised by our Youth Service.”
