Oulder Hill GCSE results better than last year

The percentage of students who gained A*-C grades in maths, English and languages at Oulder Hill are higher than last year, with Italian remaining at 100%. 

High achiever Umar Mohammad, 16, who sat his GCSEs this year, also gained an A grade A level in Italian. His teacher, Head of Languages, John McStocker, provided extra classes at lunchtime so Umar could sit both the AS and A2 papers alongside his GCSEs.

He achieved an A* in his Italian GCSE and is going to study physics, chemistry and maths at Rochdale Sixth Form College. Umar hopes to work in the chemical engineering field.

Kal Torson, 16, achieved an A** in further maths, 3 A*, 7A and 1B. He is going to be studying maths, further maths, chemistry and physics at Rochdale Sixth Form College.

Beth Blackburn, 16, achieved 5 A*grades and is going to Holy Cross Sixth Form College in Bury to study physics, chemistry and maths A levels. She is thinking of becoming an engineer.

Jessica Price, 16, has aspirations of becoming a criminal lawyer. She is going to study law, English language and psychology at Rochdale Sixth Form College after achieving 9 A* - C grades.

Mirza Baig, 16, met his predicted grades with 7 A* and 3 A grades. He is going to Doverbroecks College in Oxford to study physics, maths, further maths, French and economics. He eventually wants to complete a PhD and lecture in physics.

Isobel Meikle, 16, did better than predicted with 4 A*, 4 A, 1 B, 1 C. She is going to study A levels at Xaverian College in Manchester.

Emillie Petznick, 16, achieved 10 A*-C grades and is going to study accounting, maths and Spanish at Rochdale Sixth Form. She then hopes to study accounting at university.

Emily Phillips, 16, achieved 11 A* - C grades. She is going to attend Rochdale Sixth Form College to study maths, geography, chemistry and biology. She wants to study biology at university and thinks she might specialise in marine biology.

Jenna Kavanagh, 16, did better than predicted, passing all ten of her exams. She is going to study double business and psychology at Rochdale Sixth Form College.

Lyn Sanderson, Assistant Head Teacher, said: “We are very proud of all our students, especially the language results. We achieved 100% passes in German and Italian, 80% in Spanish and 77% in French.

“75% of maths students passed,72% of students passed English and we also had a 33% pass rate for the English Baccalaureate (Ebacc; a performance measure of academic subjects), which is quite high.

“We are very proud of all the hard work staff and students have put in. We would like to thank them for their amazing support.”
