Falinge Park High School students celebrate GCSE success

Date published: 25 August 2016

Nathan Lawlor and Sadaf Ali are amongst this year’s group of Falinge Park High School students that are moving on to Rochdale Sixth Form College after a successful set of GCSE results.

Nathan, 16, achieved an A in Maths, Further Maths, History, Engineering and English Literature as well as three B and two C grades. He said: “I’m really happy with my results, I thought I’d do a bit better in English Language which I got a C in, but apart from that I’m really pleased.

“I’m now going to study A Levels in Computer Science, Physics and Maths at Rochdale Sixth Form College. I’m hoping to get an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or aeronautical engineering or something of that kind in the future, but I’m still open to other options.”

Sadaf Ali, also 16, was equally satisfied with her results after passing every subject, achieving two A’s, two B’s and six C’s in the process: “I’m happy because I’ve had to work really hard for these results, I was revising every day after school since after the mock exams last December.

“I’m doing A Levels in English Language, Law and Psychology at Rochdale Sixth Form in September.”

Another successful student in the Falinge Alumni was Hakeem Uddin Ahmed, who got two A’s, four B’s and three C’s. He said of his results: “I’m very happy, in fact more than happy with my grades. I’ve had to work very hard, because I’m a C grade student but I have pulled out some A’s and B’s in my results. It’s really crazy.

“I plan to go to Holy Cross and then hopefully on to University to go down a physiotherapy career path. It’s been fun and a rollercoaster ride studying at Falinge, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and have got even more than what I wanted at the end of it.”

Other successful students included Bushra Jabeen Daud, who is hoping to study A level Psychology and applied health and social care and eventually do a teaching degree at university after she achieved nine A*-C grades. Mohammed Imon, who only moved to Falinge six months ago from overseas, was delighted to get an A* in Spanish, an A in Urdu and a C in Maths and will now study an engineering course at Hopwood Hall College in Middleton.
