Deeply Vale 40th Anniversary Two Day Festival - Heywood Civic Centre

40 years ago on September 17th 3 Heywood musicians walked on stage at the first Deeply Vale festival under the band name Spike - within two years the festival had grown from 300 people watching Spike at the top end of Ashworth Valley to 20,000 people watching Gong guitarist Steve Hillage there - at that point he was filling venues like Manchester Apollo with his solo Steve Hillage Band tours.
