Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 16 September 2016

It was wonderful on Wednesday 14 September, Roald Dahl Day to see all children and staff make such an effort with their ‘Fantastic Creations’ costumes, everyone looked amazing. A big thank you to Mrs Hoyle for organising this event, lots of effort went into making it such a huge success and the Citizens of the week for week ending 16 September are the Whole school for making such a brilliant effort dressed in their fabulous creations.

Please can parents make sure that, as the weather gets a bit colder and wetter that the children are starting to bring in appropriate clothing to keep warm and dry on the journey to and from school and at playtimes. Unless it’s torrential rain we’ll be playing out so it’s important to dress for this. Thank you!

Places are available for children across the whole of school in our Breakfast Club. Following feedback from parents we have extended the hours for this and children can be dropped off from 8:00am (if they require a breakfast please ensure children arrive before 8.30am) The price remains the same as last year at only £1 per day, this is exceptional value in comparison to other providers in the area. Payment needs to be made in advance for the half term to secure a place, please see the school office for further details.

A reminder to our parents, please remember that adults may not take photographs of the children of other families, only their own, at any school event where cameras are permitted. Cameras are only permitted at special events and we have to be aware that not all children are allowed to be photographed for safeguarding reasons. Furthermore, please do not upload any images to social media for the same reason. Thank you.

Although the school year has only just begun, many local high schools are already planning open evenings for Year 6 children and their families to attend. If you have a particular high school that you would like to visit, then please see Mr Walsh in the school office and he will find out details of their open evening for you. The deadline for applications for high school places for next year is 31 October 2016.

Our after school Sports Clubs will begin again next week. Parents will have by now received a letter sent home if a place has been secured for their child in one of the clubs. If a child hasn’t got a place on a club, they requested then they will be on a waiting list for next half term.
