Curtain Theatre to host rock spectacular

Date published: 27 September 2016

The Curtain Theatre in Rochdale is set to rock with music from the likes of Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Styx and Whitesake in the epic musical 'Rock of Ages' by the Whitworth Amateur Musical and Dramatic Society.

Set in L.A.'s infamous Sunset Strip in 1987, Rock of Ages tells the story of Drew, a boy from South Detroit and Sherrie, a small-town girl, both in L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. Rock of Ages takes you back to the times of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair.

Rock of Ages is the latest production from Whitworth Amateur Musical & Dramatic Society. Founded in 1963, this show follows their sell out show 'A Slice of Saturday Night, performed at the Curtain Theatre in April. WAM&DS has a reputation for the more alternative and modern musical productions, and pride themselves on their open recruitment policy.

Andy Kelly from the group said: "This is going to be a spectacular night full of some of the best rock songs from the last four decades."
